初期日程とは言え、「MANSFIELD 2015」と同じツアー、同じセットリストであり、ショウの内容は酷似。「MANSFIELD 2015」が素晴らしいサウンドだっただけに、別に聴かなくても……と思いきや、実際に耳に流れ込んでくる音楽は、ニュアンスがまるで違うのです。「MANSFIELD 2015」は、日本人テーパーらしい端正なサウンドで本場アメリカの空気感を真空パックしていたのに対し、本作は実にワイルドなサウンド。別に爆音でも何でもなく、こちらもまた素晴らしい録音なのですが、言ってみれば“アメリカ人らしさ”に溢れている。ここで“アメリカ人”と言ったのは、バンドのことではありません。サウンドから「アメリカ！」のイメージが匂ってくるのです。何と言いますか、本作のサウンドは迫力重視で、実にリアルな本場感覚。例えば、「MANSFIELD 2015」は高音域・中音域がクリアに迫るダイレクト感を持ちながら、低音に会場のスケール感がありました。それに対し、本作はすべての音域に広がりがあり、分かれることなく一気呵成に迫ってくるような迫力があるのです。
そして、その迫力サウンドに乗った演奏も一層ワイルド。サウンドのせいか、初期日程のせいかは迷うところですが、VAN HALEN自身のワイルドなノリがビビッドに際だち、デイヴ・リー・ロスの語りヴォーカルも冴えに冴え渡る。細かいミスなど気にもとめずに爆走する機関車のごとき猛烈ライヴ。そう、あの「A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH」ジャケの機関車が突っ込んでくるかのような迫力なのです。
