1972年の欧州ツアーから、Zurich公演を収録。以前にも他レーベルから本公演がリリースされているが、今回のリリースに使用された音源は、録音者自身がオリジナルのマスターテープからデジタル化したものが使用されており、音質の差は歴然としている。ファクトリー・プレスでのリリースも嬉しい。
伝説のドイツ公演の直後ということもあって、演奏内容は大変充実している。特にプロトタイプの「Dark Side Of The Moon」は1973年3月から始まる北米ツアーにおいて、アルバムバージョンに準じて演奏されるアレンジよりも、格段に素晴らしい。
なお、今回使用された音源は一般にRecorder 2と呼ばれるもので、このRecorder 2が近年発掘される以前には、ブートLP「LIVE IN ZURICH 1972」(Frog Records)に使用されたRecorder 1と呼ばれる音源が広く普及していた。余談だが、このRecorder 1にはアンコールのChildhood’s End が未収だったため、アンコールも収録されたRecorder 2が発掘された時は騒然となった経緯がある。今回、Recorder 1の音源が使用された前述の「LIVE IN ZURICH 1972」(Frog Records)が、ハイエンドのターンテーブルで再生されて、丁寧な復刻が実現した。今となってはレアなLPであり、こうして手軽に聴けるのはありがたい。ファンはぜひ入手したいアイテムだ。必携盤。
