1973年USAツアーより7月12日と翌13日のDetroit公演を収録したタイトルが3枚組プレス盤で登場です！12日公演はステレオ・オーディエンス録音で、翌13日公演は短いながらもステレオ・サウンドボード録音でそれぞれ収録し、現時点で考えられる最良の状態でカップリングした決定盤！まず、メインに収録された12日公演は既発タイトルと同じステレオ・オーディエンス録音ですが、近年トレーダー間に流通する1st Genとされるマスターを使用。ところどころオーディエンス・ノイズが大きめで音像が揺れるのが特徴ですが、演奏を近くで捉えた非常に良好な録音です。10年以上前に出た既発ベストとされるタイトルでは、全体にかなりクリアな質感で観客の拍手などが小さめだったのに対し、今回のタイトルは既発よりクリアに感じる部分もありますが、概ねダンゴ状の音の塊と言った質感で、例えば観客の拍手などはよりダイレクトに感じます。どちらがもとの音に近いのかは何とも言えないところですが、今回は敢えて高域を持ちあげクリアさを強調するような不自然なイコライジング処理をせずにそのまま収録(もちろん最低限のピッチ修正、音量調整は施してあります）。 曲中及び曲間カットに関しては、例えばRock And Rollが終盤部からカットインする点、 Moby Dickの大半がカットされている点などは既発同様変わりませんが、既発タイトルでCD化される際に意図的にカットされていたさまざまな部分(主に周囲の観客の騒ぎ声・しゃべり声・マイクに物が当たる音など)をそのまま収録しているため、当日のライブを高音質かつよりリアルに体感できるのが特徴です。また、マスターに起因する曲中・曲間カットについてはフェード処理により違和感なくスムーズに鑑賞頂けるよう最低限の編集を施しました(ただしRock And Rollのカットインについてはフェード処理をしてません)。なお、Moby DickとHeartbreakerの曲間部に僅かながら今回のマスターに特有の曲間カット(若干のMC欠落)があるため、そこはほんの数秒ではありますが、同音源の別マスターにてパッチ処理を施してあります。DISC3にボーナス的に収録される13日のステレオ・サウンドボード録音は55分ほどの収録で、初登場曲はありませんが現時点での最長収録かつ最高音質と断言できる仕上がりです。Whole Lotta LoveとDancing Daysの曲間には既発タイトル同様カットが入りますが、その歓声部に僅かながら初登場部分もあり、一部の既発タイトルにあるようなツギハギコピー盤ではありませんので御安心下さい。また、最後に収録されたDancing Daysは既発同様1分半ほどでフェードアウトし終了しますが、既発タイトルにあった終盤のプチっというデジタルノイズの入らないバージョンで収録しています。全体を通して、曲ごとに音の定位がコロコロ変わることもなくどっしりと安定したサウンドで終始鑑賞頂けるデトロイト二日目の現時点における決定盤と言える仕上がりとなっております。演奏には定評のある両公演ですがしばらく入手困難であり、なおかつ音質と収録内容の両方を兼ね備えたタイトルはありませんでしたので、お持ちでないファンにはもちろん、既発タイトルをお持ちのファンにも注目のリリースとなることに間違いありません。デトロイト両公演をパッケージングした3枚組プレスタイトルがコーティング・ジャケ仕様でリリース決定です！
