本作はとある関係者から極秘裏にもたらされた2巻のリール・テープより、同作品のレコーディング・マスターを、プロユースの最新機材でダイレクトにデジタル化したとんでもないブツ！　同作の公式発表前、スタジオで収録されたマスターを直接リールに収めたバージョンとの事（リール・ボックスの写真は内側に掲載。それぞれの箱には曲名が手書きで記されています）で、その鮮度の高さ、状態の素晴らしさは恐ろしいほどです！

30年以上の時を経て突如世に出現した”リール・マスター・バージョン”。喩えるなら、それは熟成されたワインのように味わい深い。自然な音の広がりや豊穣な低音、マイルドで自然な深みを感じさせるアンサンブル･･････。ディスクを再生してまず飛び出してくる「Long Way From Home」から、現行CDで聴けるサウンドとは全くと言って良いほど”豊かさ”の次元が異なっています。これまで”最新リマスター”として、手を変え品を変えリリースされてきたオフィシャル盤ですが、それらは体裁を改め続けるうちにいつの間にか、音が薄っぺらく無理にイコライズしたような音色になっていました。
しかし本作での溢れるようにジューシーなサウンドはどうでしょう。全くのノン・イコライズでこの音色！　「Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues」のズンズンと響くようなリズムの力強さ、「Help Me Thro’ The Day」・「Medicine Man」のツヤに満ち満ちたヴォーカル、ピチピチと活きの良い「Mean Business」など、オフィシャル盤とは「比較にならない！」とすら思えてしまうほどです。ツヤ光りするような「Lovehunter」・「Rock ‘N’ Roll Women」のなまめかしい質感などは、あのジャケットを彷彿させるではありませんか！　バーニーがヴォーカルを執る「Outlaw」は異質の曲と見られがちでしたが、本音源ではバンドの新たな魅力を切り開いているように響きます。ラストの「We Wish You Well」の感動に至っては、もはや何をかいわんや！　ナチュラルでワイドな質感をもった味わい深いサウンドは、WHITESNAKEでもこの当時のみの魅力を、これ以上は無いほどリアルかつ魅力的な音色で体感させてくれます。これこそこの世に一つしかないマスター・サウンド。これを聴いたら最後、もう「オフィシャルに戻れないのでは？」と、不安すら抱いてしまうかも。聴き手がこれまで持ってきた「LOVEHUNTER」のイメージすら変えてしまう、まさに人生的一瞬を体感できます。

この後バンドはデイヴ・ドウルからイアン・ペイスへとドラマーを交代させ、’80年の初来日、そしてバンドの代表作「READY AN’ WILLING」製作へと、初期の頂点に向かい突き進んで行きます。
本音源はその中で残された、ハードロック・ファン感涙間違いなしの至宝！　バンドの歴史を知っているファン、各種のオフィシャル版「LOVEHUNTER」を聴いてきたマニアほど、本作で受けるショックは大きいでしょう！　これがボーナスというのが未だに信じられない、超ド級の一本です！
