そこは時代に常に敏感なストーンズ、そんな時代に呼応するかのようにオープニングナンバーであるデイスコチックかつシュガー・ブルーのハープが余りにもかっこよすぎる『ミス・ユー』が大ヒットします。が、そのサウンドが我が国の硬派ロック兄貴達に反発を喰らったのでしょうか、どうも評判は芳しくありません。ラストはニューヨークパンク風味な『シャッタード』で幕を閉じます。このストーンズのお家芸とも言える時代への対応と曲の配列のまずさが兄貴達の反発の理由？なのかも？？？

んがしかし移籍後第一弾作品としてそのサウンドが若き日のクラシック・ロックファンの皆さんには概ね大好評、ストーンズからパンクへの回答的なアルバムとして評価を得たようです。更に米国チャートではナンバーワンの大成功を収めます。ツアーも大成功。大名曲『ビースト・オブ・バーデン』も収録されていますし、キースのオハコナンバーとなった『ビフォア・ゼイ・メイク・ミー・ラン』も本作品に収まっています。カントリー・ナンバーの佳作『ファラーウエイ・アイズ』も聞き逃してはいけません。
結果として本作品はストーンズ中興の名作に認定されています(笑）。

さて、今回ご紹介するのはもちろんのオリジナルUK盤です。マトリックスは両面手書きの3 Uです。１U/4Uとの組み合わせもあるようですが、両面３ Uが初版であるとの見解が多数を占めているようです。インナーの写真に採用された有名人からクレームが入ったためその後ジャケットが変チクリンなものに変更となってしまった事、『ビースト・オブ・バーデン』のシングルスリーブが反倫理的との理由で回収されたのは有名なエピソードです。またジャケットのカラーである青・桃色・緑色・黄色の配列が数パターンあるところがコレクター心を刺激しているようです。更に今回使用したのは発売当時購入した前記の通りの色で配列されたジャケットの極上品です(残念ながら音質には何ら関係ありません）。肝心の音質のほうですが、米盤プロモ盤もなかなかの高評価のようですが、低音のまろやかさから英国盤に軍配が上がるとの判断いたしました。つきましては極上のコンディションのUKオリジナル盤の音でお楽しみいただきたく、ご用意させていただいたものが今回のプレゼントアイテムです。発売から35年を迎えた『Some Girls』を、英オリジナル原盤で是非ともご堪能ください！
