大好評完売となった2003年大阪二日目「OSAKA 2003 SECOND NIGHT」に続いて今回は大阪初日の新音源が登場となります。発売の順序が反対ではありますが、今回も今まで一切日の目を見ていなかったDATオーディエンス録音マスターを発掘し、前回の二日目音源に続いて今回も別格なクオリティの極上音質を保証します。テーパーは勿論、先週の「OSAKA 2003 SECOND NIGHT」と同じ、ストーンズ録音音源でお馴染みの超絶録音者。ただし今回がその大阪二日目と全く違う音質なのが興味深いところ。どちらも見事にオンな音像、さらには十年以上眠っていたマスターとは思えない抜群の鮮度という点では見事に共通するものがあります。しかし今回初登場のマスターは周囲が極端に静かなバランスで、それはまるで関係者が特別な位置から録音して見せたのかと錯覚しそうなほど落ち着いた録音状態なのです。そこにオンな、しかもマイルドな形で演奏が捉えられた独特の味わいがある音像の聴き心地は抜群。周囲の落ち着いた環境などは今年の来日公演で居並ぶ高音質音源を彷彿とさせるほどであり、2003年来日の中でもじっくり聴き込める正に理想の音質だと言えるでしょう。
2003年の大阪と言えば前回リリース時にもクローズアップされた「Monkey Man」でのハプニングの印象が強く、初日の方はあまり語られることがありません。確かにこの日の演奏は正に盤石という言葉がピッタリと当てはまる、スムースでさわやかと言ってもいいくらいのものです。当日見られた方の話では「この日に限ってロニーが冴えなかった」との声もあるのですが、それはロニーのプレイが連日で高いクオリティを示していた「LICKS」の中でいつもらしかぬ風に映ったということです。今回、改めてこの日の「Can’t You Hear Me Knocking」を聴いてみるとそんな不調ぶりはまったく感じさせません。むしろロニーが「えっ、もうエンディング?」と思うような展開を見せてからが長く、それでいてサラりと演奏が終わってみせるのがこの日らしいところではないでしょうか。
またキースが2003年日本公演においてこの日に限って「Thru And Thru」を演奏するというレアな選曲には尾ひれが付き、当時イラク侵攻を命じていたアメリカのブッシュ大統領を批判して「Cause now I got those fucking blues」のラインを「fuckin’ Bush」と歌ったのでは?などと盛られた解釈が起きたのも今となっては懐かしい限り(もちろんキースは通常の歌詞で歌っていました)。
そして今回の音源がさらに凄い点はBステージ。もちろん音質が少し変わって定位も左寄りとなってしまうのですが、演奏のバランス、特にミックの歌声の近さにはゾクゾクするほどのリアルさに圧倒されてしまいます。あの日Bステージに突進してかぶりつきで見られた方などにはなおさら魅力的な音質に響くことでしょう。しかもここでのストーンズの演奏の足腰しなやかな演奏がまた圧巻。何しろ「Let It Breed」でバンドの演奏がスピードアップ、さらに「Midnight Rambler」などはBステージでの披露が功を奏して凄まじいほどの迫力となっています。それはまるで30年前にタイムスリップしてしまったかのよう。これらのアツい演奏を今回の新音源にてぜひ再確認していただきたいところです。前回の大阪二日目もあっという間に完売となってしまいましたが、今回も極上音源での限定リリースです、どうぞお見逃しなく!
