「BERLIN 2014」リリース時には見事なクリアネスでライブを記録してくれたオーディエンス録音が元になっていたものの、いくつかの曲にはまるでUFOが襲来したかのような、何とも電気的なノイズが入るという欠点があり、それを当店がリリース時に徹底したクリーンナップによって改善していたものです。しかしその後に登場した音源などを駆使した今回のマトリクス・バージョンですが、そういった欠点がいとも簡単に一掃されているのだからびっくりさせられてしまいます。

複数の音源をシンクロさせるという手法ですが、テクノロジーの進化によって現在では簡単に作り上げることが可能となっています。それ故にファン・メイドによるマトリクス・バージョンは広く出回っていますが、シンクロのセンスによっては不自然で奇をてらった仕上がりで終わってしまうものも少なくありません。複数の音源を重ねれば音に広がりが出るのは当然と言え、それが失敗した場合やセンスの度合いによってはズレズレ、あるいはやかましいだけのものとなってしまいます。
しかし今回のベルリン・新バージョンの仕上がりと言ったら…ただ素晴らしいの一言。予備知識なしで聴いていれば元々このような厚みと広がり、そして抜群のクリアネスを兼ね備えた単独録音の極上オーディエンスとしか映らないことでしょう。不自然な部分は一切なく、前回とはまるで違うウォーミーな仕上がりにも脱帽するばかり。それに音像がオンでありながらも実に見事なバランスの臨場感には興奮すら覚えます。
選曲的には「これを投票ナンバー扱い？」と首を傾げさせられた「Get Off Of My Cloud」がいざ始まってみれば、それまでライブのオープニングに演奏されてきたバージョンよりも数段上のアッパーな勢いを感じさせる名演となったことは「BERLIN 2014」リリース時にも話題となりましたが、それに盛り上がって「Hey! Hey! You! You!」と合唱する会場の臨場感が絶妙なバランスで再現されているのです。この辺りはシンクロ製作者のセンスがものを言う訳で、その場面を聴いただけでも前回とは別格の音源であると断言いたしましょう。同じような盛り上がりの妙はラスト「Satisfaction」においても捉えられており、こんなご機嫌なライブの会場にいたかった！そう思わずにはいられません。

そしてこの日の目玉である「Waiting On A Friend」も今回はノイズの気配すらない完璧なサウンドにて再現。あらためてじっくりと聴かせてくれる名演なのですが、ミックはこの曲を問題山積で未だに開港のめどが立たないベルリン新空港（ベルリン・ブランデンブルク国際空港）捧げるユーモアで観客を笑わせています。そんな余裕がある一方で明らかにミックのイヤモニのトラブルだと思われた「Out Of Control」での演奏と歌のずれ（それはそれでルーズな歌い方に聴こえなくもないのですが…笑）、その他オープニングの「Start Me Up」でキースが雑の極みのような弾き方を始めとしたストーンズらしいドタバタ、それらがまるっきり生まれ変わった極上音質にて昨年のベルリンが再び楽しめるのです、その上に今回も限定のプレスCDリリースですので絶対にお見逃しなく！
