「News Of The World」に伴う1978年春のヨーロッパ･ツアーより、ツアー最良の音源と高い評価を受ける4月13日のコペンハーゲン音源の、待望のアップグレード版が登場です。今回、発掘されたマスター音源は、決定盤として名高い「DENMARK NEWS」の更に上を行く音源。最高音質と疑わなかった「DENMARK NEWS」よりも、テープ・ジェネが若く、加えてイコライズ感を感じさせない、端正で自然な音像が本盤の魅力です。「DENMARK NEWS」も悪くはなかったのですが、本盤を聴くと、作為的な音の加工を感じてしまいます。今回のヴァージョンはより分厚く、濁りのない、いわば、好きなだけ大音量で楽しめるナチュラルな音の感触が魅力です。これがマスターテープの持つ底力というものでしょうか。迫力ある部分はよりダイナミックに、優雅な部分はより洗練されソフィスティケイトに聞こえます。更なるアドバンテージとして、既発「DENMARK NEWS」ではSpread Your Wingsの5分台から It’s Late、Now I’m Hereにかけて散見されたデジタルノイズが残念だったのですが、本盤は勿論、ノイズはありません。更には既発で高く速かったピッチも、本盤ではジャストに収録されており、2013年のリリースらしい、あらゆる意味でベストな音質・音像でコンサートの全貌を楽しむことができます。先にリリースされ、高い評価を受けた好評の「A NIGHT AT BOSTON : DEFINITIVE EDITION」が1976年「A Night At Opera」ツアーを代表する1枚なら、オーディエンス録音に関しては、本盤こそが、77年北米、78年欧州と続いた「News Of The World」ベストの音源であることに異論を唱えるファンはいないでしょう。77年ヒューストンのサウンドボードは別格としても、78年欧州は4月12日のストックホルム、5月2日ウィーン公演が他にも優良音源として挙げられますが、あらゆる意味で、このコペンハーゲンを最良のサウンドで収録した「DEFINITIVE DENMARK NEWS」こそが、音質・内容共に最高です。太く、ナチュラル、音が密集しても、それが快感となるほどの、むっちりした優雅なこの時期の観客席録音なんてそうあるものではありません！焦ったブライアンが全てを忘れてしまいヘロヘロなプレイを聴かせるLove Of My Lifeはご愛嬌（フレディは知らんふりをして熱唱しています。）収録されている全てがベスト・トラック！と断言してしまうほどに素晴らしい、クィーン・ファンにとって、永遠の定番となりえる絶品タイトルが、好評Wardourレーベルより限定プレスCD2枚組で登場です。Definitily Best of News of the World Tour!!!

1978年4月13日のコペンハーゲン公演を収録しており、『Definitive Denmark News』というタイトルの如く、2007年に同じくWardourからリリースされた『Denmark News』（本誌vol.81参照）のアップ・グレイド版となっている。聴き比べてみると、音の奥行というか厚みというか、そういう深さが全く違っていて、とても大元は同じソースとは思えないほどだ。これを聴いた後に『Denmark News』を聴くと、如何にも音を前面に押し遣るかのようなマスタリングにより、迫力を出そうとしていたのかが分かるというものだろう。ただ、『Denmark News』も音質としては充分に優秀なものであり、もしかするとこの違いは好みの問題という範疇であるのかもしれない。しかし、こちらの方がアナログ的な音質であり、ジェネレーションとしてマザーに近いことは明白である。残念ながら、「Bohemian Rhapsody」以降の微妙な音揺れは残ったままだが、これは大元のテープに起因しているのだろう。何れにせよ、『Denmark News』とは随分と印象が異なるので、それを所有の方も聴き比べてみたら、きっと面白いはずである。フレディの調子も相当良く、音質的にもこの“News Of The World Tour”から残されているオーディエンス音源の中では優良な部類に属するものなので、未聴のファンも安心して聴くことが出来るだろう。プレス盤。初回分には、このツアーから残されている1977年11月12日のヒューストン公演における定番プロショット・ライヴ映像のプレスDVDが付いている。中身の詳細は本誌vol.88を参照いただくとして、装丁は全くの新規となっている。
