本作を記録したのは女性テーパーで、実はモット・ザ・フープルのファン。当時はフープル目当てに会場へ足を運んだそうですが、そこで目にしたのは、QUEENなる新人バンドを求める熱狂的なオーディエンス。「一体、何者なんだ？」と思いつつ、テープを回したそうです。テープ残量を気にして一時停止でも押していたのか、「Father To Son」「Ogre Battle」では冒頭が抜けており、当日演奏されたはずの「Son And Daughter」は収録されていません。そのサウンドは少々割れ気味で、“音楽作品”より“歴史記録”と呼ぶべきもの。こう書くと「ノイズの中から音楽を探す」といったタイプが思い浮かぶかも知れませんが、そうではありません。本作から聞こえてくるのは、ほとんどすべてバンドの楽音のみ。録音時の割れ感はあっても、テープよれや走行ムラ、経年劣化はまったくなく、バンドも非常に近い。オーディオ的に聴いてしまうと絶賛できないサウンドとは言え、忍耐を強いるような類ではなく、楽曲やパフォーマンスはもちろんのこと、そこに込められたパッションもたっぷりと伝わってくるのです。
