From the Europe / North America / South America tour associated with the release of the fourth album “Ghost in the Machine”, the recording of New Haven, Connecticut on January 23, 1982, was recorded in ultra-high-quality audience recording. Although this sound source was known to exist only among enthusiasts, there was no release as a boot leg until now. Furthermore, there are two sound sources for the New Haven performance, both of which have been recorded with high sound quality, but this time we are using sound sources with particularly good sound quality and long recording time. The obvious difference is that there is no omission between “Message In A Bottle” songs. The missing “So Lonely” part (3:49-4:04) is patched from another high-quality sound source. Of particular note is its sound quality. A great expansive recording. Perfect sound pressure, sufficient balance of each part, and a good sense of presence. The album “Ghost in the Machine” is the previous work of the masterpiece “Synchronicity” and has a different tendency from the previous three albums (Sting himself plays a little saxophone etc.) -A masterpiece that has established a new police sound with deeper intelligence through pajam. The brass section was introduced for the first time in live performance, adding a punch to the new police sound. I think the fans know, but compared to other tours, Ghost in the Machine Tour has very few released sound sources, and there is almost no perfect recording with the best sound sources. From this tour, the official video work “LIVE GHOST IN THE MACHINE” has been released, but it was an unbalanced mix in which Sting’s foot pedal was oddly mixed, and it was not excellent in terms of sound image. . Meanwhile, most excellent titles were not released from this tour even in the underground, and only the short set at the time of “US Festival” was released on the sound board. アルバム４作目「ゴースト・イン・ザ・マシーン」リリースに伴う欧州／北米／南米ツアーより、1982年1月23日北米、コネチカット州ニュー・へイヴン公演を超高音質オーディエンス録音にて完全収録。当音源はマニア間でのみ存在が知られていましたが、これまでブートレッグとしてのリリースはありませんでした。さらにニューへイヴン公演の音源は２つ存在しており、両方とも高音質で収録されていますが、今回、特に音質が優れ、収録時間の長い音源を使用しております。明らかな違いは「Message In A Bottle」の曲間での欠落がありません。また欠落のある「So Lonely」部分（3:49 – 4:04）は逆にもうひとつの高音質音源から違和感無い様パッチしてあります。特筆すべきはその音質です。素晴らしい広がりのある録音。完璧な音圧、十分な各パートのバランス、そして抜けの良い臨場感。これほどまで広がりのある空気感を感じることができることに、まず圧倒されるでしょう。観客の反応も良く、臨場感をさらに掻き立てます。決してライン録音では味わうことができないこの臨場感を、ぜひとも大音量で聴いて頂きたい。一瞬にしてリスニングルームの空気が変わります。
アルバム「ゴースト・イン・ザ・マシーン」は傑作「シンクロニシティー」の前作で過去の３枚のアルバムと傾向が異なり、（スティング自身も少しサックスをプレイ等）新たなアプローチで望み製作され、凄腕ヒュー・パジャムにより、よりインテリジェンスな深みのある新しいポリス・サウンドを確立した秀作。ライブでも初めてブラスセクションが導入され、新たなポリス・サウンドにパンチを加えています。ファンは御存じたと思いますが、他のツアーに比べゴースト・イン・ザ・マシーン・ツアーはリリースされた音源が極端に少なく、さらに極上音源で完全収録ともなればほとんどありません。このような最中、今回のリリースはファンにとってまさに埋もれていたダイヤモンドを掘り起こした感覚に近いでしょう。
ニュー・へイヴン公演はゴースト・イン・ザ・マシーン・ツアー全日程（100公演）の31公演目にあたり、ちょうどその３割消化した頃になりますが、この日の前日(22日)がニューヨークＭＳＧでのライブであった為、翌日のニュー・へイヴンでのライブは、その成し遂げた自信と余裕あるリラックスさが、さらに功を奏し、指折りの名演を披露。完璧なパフォーマンスを見せつけます。
実際にスティングはＭＣで前日のＭＳＧの話や、ステージ衣装にアイスホッケーのニューヨーク・レインジャーズのシャツを着て、オーディエンスへ「このシャツを着て問題あるかな？」と聞いたりしています。（パッケージ内側アートワークで当日撮影された画像を確認することができます。）
ショー全体はブラスセクションの効果によりアルバム「ゴースト・イン・ザ・マシーン」収録曲はもちろん「When The World Is Running Down, You Make The Best Of What’s Still Around」、「The Bed’s Too Big Without You」、「De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da」、「Roxanne」等ここでしか聞けない新鮮さがあり、また「Spirits In The Material World」や「Hungry For You」、「Demolition Man」では、メンバーに開始の合図を送るスチュワート・コープランドの掛け声が、一気に張りつめた空気を漂わせ、スリリングなパフォーマンスを披露します。特に「Demolition Man」ではアンディ・サマーズがギターを弾きまくり、緊張感あふれるパフォーマンスに聴き応え満点です。さらに極め付けは、アンコールでラストとなる「So Lonely」、ポリスはライブで人気のあるこの曲をツアーで演奏しますが、間違いなく屈指の名演と断言できる素晴らしいパフォーマンスです。曲後半、スティングはニュー・へイヴン市を称えており、聴衆から喝采が鳴りひびく感動の瞬間です。彼らの傑作「シンクロニシティー」へ発展させる基盤となる新しいポリス・サウンドを見出し、前進する才気みなぎるエネルギーが感じ取れたゴースト・イン・ザ・マシーン・ツアー。その中でもバンド・パフォーマンス、音質、そして観客、三拍子そろったニュー・へイヴンでの奇跡のドキュメントが好評WardourよりプレスCDにてリリースです。

ポリスがブラスを採り入れて82年にリリースした意欲作『GHOST IN THE MACHINE』のプロモーションツアーから、1982年1月23日に行なったアメリカ、コネチカット州ニュー・へイヴン公演を非常に良好なステレオ・オーディエンス録音で完全収録したファクトリー・プレス２CD。このツアーからは、オフィシャル映像作品『LIVE GHOST IN THE MACHINE』がリリースされているが、スティングのフットペダルが異様にオン・ミックスされたアンバランスなミックスで、音像的には優れたものではなかった。そんな中、このツアーからはアンダーグラウンドでもほとんど優良なタイトルがリリースされず、唯一「ＵＳフェスティバル」出演時のショートセットがサウンドボードでリリースされるに留まっていた。しかし今回の本作のリリースにより、このツアーの全貌が明らかになったほか、非常にクリアでバランスの良いステレオ・レコーディングにより、彼らのパフォーマンスを正確に捉えたものとして、ファンの溜飲が下がることは間違いないだろう。この音源がCD化されたのは初めてのことだ。オーディエンス録音なので、多少のオーディエンス・ノイズは含まれているが、想像以上に少なく、鑑賞の妨げにはなっていない。ホーン・アレンジの稚拙さは変わらないものの、新たにホーンのインプロ・パートを加えた「The Bed’s Too Big Without You」などでは、新たな魅力を発信することに成功している。さらに６曲セットインしている当該アルバムのナンバーでは、やはりホーンがなくてはならないものとなっている。極端にリリースの少なかったツアーだけに、本作が本ツアーの決定版となることは確実である。ポリスがスタジオ作とともに、ライブ・パフォーマンスの面でも新境地を拓いたことを証明する音源として、ファンは要注目のタイトルである。
