熱心なファンの方には今更な話ですが75年のフロイドはその年に僅か20公演しかライブをしておらず、70年代としては前年の74年(※=全13公演)に続いて極端に公演数が少なかった年度です。それゆえ現存するタイトル数も少なく、未だに良音源の発掘が待たれている年度でもある訳ですが、そんな75年のランドーバー公演と言えば当レーベルから2012年にリリースされた『LANDOVER 1975 (Sigma 75)』が決定版となっていました。これに収録された公演日は75年の6月” 10 “日でしたが、周知の通りこの年のランドーバーではその前日の” 9 “日にも同じ会場で公演を行っています。本作はそのランドーバー初日・6月9日の公演を史上初めて完全収録したタイトルなのです!!

勿論9日のランドーバー音源は当Sigmaでは未リリースで今回が初リリースとなりますが、実はこの9日の音源自体はトレーダー間で3rd Genと言われているソースがショウの第一部だけ存在していました。今回当レーベルはその欠落していた9日の第二部(=” 狂気 “の全パート)とアンコール(=「Echoes」)の秘蔵1st Genテイクを独自入手する事に成功した訳で、これと前述のトレーダー間で出回っていたショウ第一部を組み合わせる事で本作は史上初めて9日の全容を完全収録したタイトルとなっているのです。また実際のランドーバーは6月9日・10日の2DAYSでしたから、本作もそれに倣って時系列通り翌10日の公演もディスク4に収録しています。10日はつまり既発盤『LANDOVER 1975』と同一音源という事になりますが、今回はそのリリース時に使用したマスター音源を改めて精査した上で新規収録しておりますので、よりブレの無い精緻なサウンドが御愉しみ戴けるでしょう。これにより本作は1975年のランドーバー2DAYSを、どちらも現時点で入手出来る最上級テイクをカップリングした4枚組の極上決定版となっているのです!!

前述の通りディスク1の第一部は3rd Genですのでディスク2・3よりも音質は若干劣りますが、しかし導入の細い音からバッチリ拾っている「Raving And Drooling」を聴けば、とても3rd Genとは思えない質感豊かな直球の音像に誰もが驚かれる筈です。序盤から形成途中にある曲の勢い迸る旋律の流れが耳元に鋭く迫り、終曲後に入るチューニングも音色が調整される生々しい姿をノーカットで収録しています。「You Gotta Be Crazy」は中音域~高音域で出る音に眩さがあり、中でもピアノが旋律をばら撒くところ(※7分03秒付近、12秒付近)はその弱音の輝きが綺麗に現れます。またギターとキーボード強音とのユニゾンではギルモアが音を微妙にずらしながら進行する事で現れるハーモニーが実に鮮やかに出ており、発展途上にある楽曲に幅広い可能性をお感じになると思います。「Shine On You…Part 1-5」は歌に入るまでの長いインスト部でギターとキーボードが奏でるメランコリックな表現力が実に麗しい音色で現れます。またこの日はギターが本格的に歌い出すシーン(※6分41秒~)がいつになくアタックの強い音で入っており、そのアクセントの強さが間近な音で愉しめるのもトピックです。「Have A Cigar」では若干ひねり出す様に歌うロジャーの歌声も直球音でこちらに届き、ギターソロも格調高いキリッとした音で進行する姿が魅惑の良好音で出てきます。曲特有のフック感や突然終わりを迎える姿も生々しさ溢れるサウンドで御愉しみ戴けるでしょう。「Shine On You…Part 6-9」は序盤キーボードとベースの響きが芯の太い立体的な音で現れるほか、音の余白の中で徐々に表情が明確になるギターもその旋律が濃淡豊かな音像で現れます。終曲部でのキーボードも透明度の高い硬質な音が彼方へ消えゆく姿を完璧に捉えており、その響きの余韻と陶酔を存分にお感じ戴ける筈です。

第二部” 狂気 “パートを収めたディスク2からはレコーダーが変わり、1st Genの極上音像が飛び出してきます。「Speak To Me」の鼓動と場内の様子を拾った高解像の音にのっけからただならぬポテンシャルを予感出来ると思いますが、大きく溜めを入れて始まる「Breathe (In The Air)」でギターが放たれた途端、音域一杯にその鋭い旋律が拡散する姿に仰天されること請け合いです。ギターだけでなく全楽器の出音が一つ一つ大変シャープで、中でも普段あまり目立たないシンバルの音も冒頭から麗しいほど鮮明に出ているなど、まさに規格外とも言えるこの音像は幾ら1st Genとはいえちょっと異常なほどの鮮明さと音の近さを誇っています。「On The Run」も75年ならではの挑戦的なサウンド・コラージュが最高値の明瞭さで耳元に広がり、「Time」も浮遊感たっぷりの演奏が空間性と透明性を伴って出てくるので、いつしか音像にこちらが吸い込まれる感覚にも陥るでしょう。時折り入る女性コーラスも香り立つ艶やかな音色で出ており、勿論これは「The Mortality Sequence」でますます際立ちます。またここは麗しい音で鳴るシンバルとピアノのジャジーな音色にも1st Genの実力を深くお感じになるでしょう。「Us And Them」も導入のキーボード旋律がこの時期特有の揺らぎと陶酔を誘うサウンドで届けられ、圧倒的な音艶で出るオルガンとダイナミックに動くベースも迫力の出音でその動きが追ってゆけますし、ボーカルの近さが際立つ「Brain Damage」もギターのアルペジオとオルガンの響きがそれぞれを惹き立てる様に真っ直ぐに出ていて、空間の中に現れる淡い表現と濃密な演奏に酔い痴れること請け合いです。「Eclipse」もその勢い溢れる鋭い音像が最後まで持続し、アンサンブルとコーラスがこれ以上考えられない音の像を結んで大団円を迎える姿に大きな感銘を受けるでしょう。

そして本タイトルで一番御注目戴きたいのが、ディスク3に収録されたこの日のアンコール「Echoes」です。ディスク2同様に潤い溢れる驚愕の音質で記録されているのですが、ここに至って本ソースは当時のAUD録音としては殆ど究極と言い切れる超高音質を顕わにしており、聴き手の感覚をますます高いレベルに引き上げるサウンドが実を結んでいるのです。ギルモアが歌う主旋律とリックのハーモニー、それをバックアップする2人の女性コーラスという4声の重なりと音色の膨らみが序盤から驚天動地の鮮明さで届き、サックスも金管楽器特有の響きが珠玉の鮮やかさで出てきます。ギターソロも充実した音色で飛び出してオルガンと官能的な響きを出してますが、その後ろでベースが快い変化に富んだ低音を綴る姿も完璧に拾っており、75年演奏版のこの曲の構造とその仕組みについて身を乗り出すほど充実した知見を提供してくれるのです。アホウドリが鳴くシーンの終わりではゆっくりと彼方へ飛び去ろうとする鳴き声と、その彼方から浮かび上がるオルガンが弱音同士で手を繋ぐ様に交差し続けるシーンがあり(※16分01秒付近~同40秒)、この約40秒間で聴ける2音の交差と曲表情の変化も鳥肌モノの感動を呼び覚ましてくれるでしょう。最終ヴァースにも透明感抜群のシャープな音像で突入しており、終曲手前で再びサックスとコーラスが歌い出す展開も眩い音で出てくるなど、アレンジを施された終曲部に濃密な響きが生まれている姿も存分に御愉しみ戴ける筈です。

ディスク4はディスク1~3の翌日・6月10日の演奏ですが、この日の音源は現在もショウの第一部しか陽の目を見ていないため本作も第一部のみの収録となっています。基本的には当Sigmaの既発盤『LANDOVER 1975 (Sigma 75)』と同内容ですが(※とはいえ、当時使用したマスターソースを新たに精査し直したうえでの新規収録です)、本作では時系列でディスク4に置いた事で前日とは違った演奏アプローチが見えてくる興味深い一枚にもなっています。ソースは1st Genでこそありませんが、しかし当時のAUD録音としてはかなり高いポテンシャルを持った収録音ですので、心地良い音像の中で創意漲る2日目の音の営みが掴み取って戴ける筈です。例えば「Raving And Drooling」では前日同様に演奏開始前の曲紹介から収録されていますが、この日は前日より幾分アッサリした口上だった事がディスク冒頭でまず分かるでしょう。演奏も低音域と高音域がバランス良く出ており、75年らしい闊達な描写力で演奏を進めていた事が伺えます。「You Gotta Be Crazy」はボーカルが真っ直ぐ出ている事で旋律の筋道がしっかり見える音像が魅力です。オルガンも前日には無い旋律を入れていたり、キメのタイミングをズラして弾く事で前日とは別の表情付けをしている事も注目でしょう(※1分35秒付近~2分05秒付近。同様にベースも前日とは違うアプローチが散見されます)。「Shine On You…Part 1-5」も立ち上がりの創意溢れる音の描写が鮮やかに出音し、ギターソロも前日以上に強めの音を多めに散らしたアプローチで展開してゆくなど、この日特有の表現が耳を惹きます。一方「Shine On You…Part 6-9」はドラムの激しい運動性も手伝って曲想が大きく聳え立ち、ニックがリズム面から音色を惹き立ててゆく巧さも濃密芳醇な音像の中に感じる事が出来ますので是非チェックしてみて下さい。

最後にリマスタリング面について補足しておきますと、本作もまた近年の他タイトル同様に使用したソースには極力手は加えず、素材本来の良さを最大限活かす作業(※ピッチの厳密な調整とノイズ除去程度)に留めてあり、収録原音の印象を変える様なイコライジングは一切しておりません。というより、本作は元々その必要や心配が無い優秀なソースのみを使っていますので、素材の良さをより深く御堪能戴けるでしょう。またディスク1「Us And Them」の6分09秒にフェイド処理があり演奏音が僅かに失われていますが、これはマスターから本1st Genに移された際の痕跡です。恐らくテープ・チェンジが原因と思われるのですが、ここは変に別日の音でパッチ補填せず1st Genテープに記録されたままの状態で残してあります。またディスク4の「You Gotta Be Crazy」は12分52秒~13分52秒付近にかけて音が若干奥まっていますが(※録音機の位置を少し変えたか、ジェネを重ねた際に補填した痕跡?)、大きく音像が変わる訳ではないので聴き心地にさほどの違和感は感じないでしょう。そしてこれらを鑑みても4枚のディスクはどれも演奏にしっかりフォーカスしたサウンドとなっていますので、2日間連続したこの公演で75年のフロイドが何を描こうとしていたかが容易に掴み取れる仕上がりになっています。最上級ソースによるカップリングで、今週末はフロイド75年・ランドーバー2DAYSに是非お出掛け下さい。勿論プレス盤・ピクチャーディスク仕様での登場です!!
