オールドロッカー達の中で70年代末期にパンクメーブメントにいち早く呼応したニール・ヤングですが、80年代に入るとセールス的には低迷し勢いが衰えた感がありました。しかし80年代後半にデビューしたパンクの洗礼を受けた新しいミュージシャン達には元祖グランジロッカーとしてリスペクトされ見事に名実共に復活を果たします。そしてその後現在に至るまでの存在感と活躍はご存知のとおりでしょう。

そんなニールが90年代初頭から中盤にかけて作品を発表する度に映像作品も同時期に発表しました。元々70年代から映像作品を多数残しているニールですが、ここまで映像作品を残しているのは、今となってはこの時代だけです。
そんな94年に発売されたSleeps With Angelsに連動される様に95年に発表されたのが、ジョナサン・デミ監督による映像作品であるThe Cmmplex Sessionsです。内容はSleeps With Angelsから4曲をセレクトしたスタジオライブとなっています。さすが巨匠ジョナサン・デミと思わせる映像のみならず緊張感溢れる演奏はご覧になって感動された方も多いのではないでしょうか。
今回ご紹介するのはこの作品のプロモーションの為に関係者に配布された、映像から音だけを抜き出したPRCDをダイレクトに再現したのが今回のプレゼントアイテムです。わざわざPRCDを作成したのはこの演奏にニール自身が満足したから?と想像したりします。またこの映像は現在に至るまでDVD化もされておらず、デジタルメデイアとしても音声だけながら大変貴重な作品と思われます。ぜひこの機会にお楽しみください！
