1988年にマリリオンを脱退したフィッシュの後任として加入したスティーヴ・ホガース参加後の初のロンドンライヴである、1989年11月7日、ロンドンはアストリア公演を極上レベルの高音質オーディエンス録音で完全収録。マリリオンの歴史上非常に重要な公演ですが、なんとブートレッグ化されるのは初であり、音質も十分に良好です！ホガースがボーカルを務めた「Seasons End」は同年9月25日にリリース。フィッシュ抜きのマリリオンなんぞ想像できなかったファンにとって、その作品としての完成度は驚きでした。良質な佳曲がズラリ並んだ「Seasons End」、しかし、このボーカリストのライヴはどうなのか？地方公演はなく、この日がホガース・マリリオンにとってのイギリス初見参。既に前月に10回以上のライヴをヨーロッパでこなしてはいるものの、インターネットなんぞ無い時代、そのライヴがどうだったのか、良いのか悪いのか、殆ど情報がつかめないまま、ロンドンの中規模の会場アストリア（スタンディングのクラブ）に、「俺たちのマリリオンはどうなってしまうんだ？」とこの1年案じていたファンは大挙、押しかけました。オープニングはアルバムと同じThe King Of Sunset Town。既に騒然となる観客。既にニューアルバムを聴いているファンはThe King Of Sunset Townをホガースと一緒に歌います。シャープな歌声で大サビをダイナミックに歌い上げたホガースに「こりゃ凄い！」と観客は大騒ぎ。この辺りのドキュメントは是非、本盤で楽しんで頂きたいところ。2曲目はいきなり87年「Clutching at Straws」からのSlainte Mhath。もうこうなると新生マリリオンは完全に観客を掴みます。初のMCを挟んではフィッシュのパーソナルソングとも言うべき代表曲Script For A Jester’s Tear。「Quite old song」と言った言葉の後にタイトルを告げられた観客のヒステリックな絶叫ぶりはこれも聴きどころ。観客の合唱が感動を誘います。正直、この辺りは「こんな凄いブートはない」と思わる程のエモーショナルな高まりがこの生録から伝わってきます。当然のことながら演奏は鉄壁で、この夜は特にメンバーの意気込みも凄いものがあったと思います。前半は名曲Warm Wet Circlesを挟みながら新作のメインに披露します。中盤では「Misplaced Childhood」からの3大名曲Kayleigh/Lavender/Heart Of Lothianをメドレー演奏。当然のことながら観客は「待ってました」のやんやの盛り上がり。そのままメドレーでノリの良いHooks In Youを演奏。メインセットのラストはアルバム同様にThe Space…。1stアンコールはグルーブの効いたIncommunicado、2ndアンコールは新曲After Meとアリス・クーパーのSchool’s Outを中間部にインサートした代表曲Market Square Heroes。最後は「See you in Hammersmith」というホガースの挨拶で終了。ややテープの経年劣化を感じさせる部分があるのが残念ですが、録音自体は非常に綺麗かつクリアーに録れているので、ファンの方は大満足・大感動間違いないと思います。「ホガース・ロンドン初見参」の瞬間を捉えた世界中のマリリオン・ファンに贈る必聴ライヴ盤。これぞブートレッグです！
