2014年、東京ドームシティホール3連続公演を、全て同一録音者による、オリジナル・マスターより3公演とも高音質オーディエンス録音で完全収録。録音席のポジションは4月7日が14列 ほぼ中央、8日が9列 左手の端、前方はPAスピーカー、9日が2列 左手 Jeffのマイクスタンドの前になります。このように座席位置は異なれど、3公演とも同じ機材で録音されているので音に統一感あり、マニアも納得のグレードの高いセットに仕上がっています。鉄壁のアンサンブルを聴かせるバック演奏の中から、突き抜けるようなジェフのギターが非常にオンな状態で録音されており、ファンには堪らない録音となっています。全体が一丸となったようなスケールの大きなサウンドはまさに圧巻。直ぐそこで音が鳴っているような音の近さは本盤の魅力のひとつです。ジェフの人気の高い日本ゆえ、今後も数多くの録音音源が出回ると思いますが、本セットはギフトタイトルながら、先のストーンズ6枚組同様に、これから、多くのファン、マニアの愛聴盤となること間違いありません。独特の音の質感を有した強烈なダイレクト感と圧倒的な音圧に満ちた聴き応え満点の6枚組。

ドームシティホール第一夜のセットリストは、追加公演にしてツアー初日となったNHKホールでのセットから、本編後半の Corpus Christi が Choral に入れ替えられ、アンコールでは、来日記念の日本限定マキシシングル「YOSOGAI」に収録されている Why Give It Away が追加されました。第二夜は、Choralが再び Corpus Christi に戻され、他は第一夜通り、第三夜は第二夜と同じでした。当日のメンバーとスタッフ用のセットリストのメモによると、Loaded、Nine、そして昨年10月のBrian Wilsonとのジョイントツアーでも早くも披露していた Yeminは、近々リリースかと言われている新アルバムに収録予定のようです。Why Give It Away は「YOSOGAI」に収録されていますが、こちらはフルアルバムに収録されるかどうかは不明です。（You Know You Knowはマハビシュヌ・オーケストラの楽曲のカバーで、昨年の秋のツアーでもセットに入っていました。）Yeminの始めに、イントロ的にNicolas Meierのギターで「さくら」のメロディが入るのは日本だけの図らいなのでしょう。季節的にも合っているので、コンサートの記憶に残る嬉しいアレンジです。

7日はJeffに硬さが感じられ、集中力が低いのか目立つミストーンが多く、明らかなフレットポジションのミスもありました。ただしアンコールの「哀しみの恋人達」は素晴らしい演奏と構成でしたた。

8日は一転して、開き直ったかのような力強い演奏で、多少のミスタッチも気にしない（気にならない）アグレッシブさで観客を引きつけました。観客も7日よりはるかにノリがよく、Jeffに対する掛け声も多く盛り上がりました。7日は本編終了後は素っ気なく袖に引っ込んでしまったのですが、8日は本人も手応えがあったのか、メンバーと肩組をしてお辞儀するなど上機嫌に見えました。8日のアンコールでは「Jeff’s Boogie! 」という観客の掛け声に応えて、独奏Jeff’s Boogieをさわりだけ弾いてみせるサービスぶり。

9日はライブ作品としての映像収録が入っていました。そのせいかミスタッチは少なく、昨日までの演奏はゲネプロだったのかと思わせるほど、曲間にギターをつま弾く音もなく、聴く側にとっても気持ちが途切れなくて良かったです。しかしながら逆に無難にまとめられた音という印象もありました。今日はミスが無いなと思っていたら、Yeminで少し危なっかしいところがあり、その後Led BootsでテーマのリフにJeffだけが早く入りすぎるというミスをやらかしてしまいました。9日は 8日にも増しておどけたアクションが何度も登場、Angelの後はボトルネックを最前列の観客に投げ込むなど終始ご機嫌の様子でした。

今年6月の誕生日で70歳になる永遠のギター少年の、変わらない現役感とライブ感、唯一無二のギター魔術、そしてまだまだ進行形だという凄さをあらためて実感させられました。またジミー・ペイジも来場しており、ジェフにとっても楽しい東京公演となったのではないでしょうか。
