お待たせしました！　ついに、ついに“SUPER ROCK ’84”のBON JOVI編が登場です!!　WHITESNAKE、MSG、SCORPIONSとレーザーディスクから“SUPER ROCK ’84”を復刻してまいりまして、「BON JOVIはいつ出すの？」と幾たびも幾たびも質問されました。しかし、当時レーザーディスク化されたのはコンピレーション編に収録された「Get Ready」「Runaway」だけ。永久保存のプレスDVD化に相応しいマスターが見つからなかったのです。しかし、先日Y&TのVHSを驚異の保存状態でご提供いただいたコレクターとの出会いで総てが変わりました。彼のコレクションにBON JOVIもあったのです！
Y&Tもただの「新品同様」では説明できない保存状態でしたが、今回のBON JOVIは輪をかけて凄い。“もしかして30年間、毎日磨いていた!?”と思うようなピカピカのカセットにも驚きましたが、再生して出てきた映像の美しさといったら！　まったくもってレーザーディスクに劣らない見事な映像美なのです。このコレクターのコレクションでも、物によっては画面の隅っこにノイズや変色が見られるものもありましたが、本作にはそれすらまったくなく、発色も輪郭も極めてビビッドでまるでデジタル撮影のよう。スペック上、レーザーディスクよりも水平解像度は落ちる………はずなのですが……とても、そうとは見えない。VHSの現物が目の前になければ「なんだ、レーザーディスクも出てたのか」と思ってしまうところでした。オフィシャルサイドは初期映像の復刻に及び腰ですが、仮に復刻しようとしてもこれ以上に状態の良いマスターを見つけられるかどうか……。もちろん、その映像美を100％引きだし、DVDに移し替えるべく、レーザーディスク復刻シリーズと同じ海外メーカーに委託して精緻にデジタル化いたしました。
その映像美で蘇る、初来日のBON JOVIの溌剌としたステージの溌剌としたこと！　バンドの平均年齢26.2歳で、ジョンはこのとき22歳。４年生大学を出たばかりの新入社員と同じ若さなのです。しかも、世界で初めて成功を実感した最中であり、はしゃぎっぷりも半端ではない。走るわ、登るわ、肩が外れるんじゃないかと思う勢いで腕を振り上げるわ。顔にシミひとつありゃしない。何度も何度も日本のファンに礼を言い、カタカナの「ボ“ソ”ジョヴィ」旗を誇らしげに掲げるジョン。インタビューシーンで「みんな以上にエキサイトしているよ」と語りますが、わざわざ言っていただかなくても分かります（笑）。その後、どんなにビッグになっても日本を「特別な国」としてくれる彼らですが、その魂に喜びが刷り込まれていく様子が超クリア映像でアリアリと映し出されるのです。
ただし、残念なことに他のバンドと同じようにフルセット収録ではない。「Come Back」「Roulette」「Shot Through the Heart」がカットされていますが、これで単独リリースの総てで、25分強の長さしかありません。そこで、ボーナスとしてPV集「BREAKOUT」も収録しました。「In And Out Of Love」には、誇らしげに“SUPER ROCK ’84”のシーンも挿入されています。こちらは正真正銘、当時のレーザーディスクから復刻したもの。いつものレーザーディスク復刻シリーズと同等の世界最高峰クオリティなわけですが、続けて観ても本編ライヴ映像が負けていないことが分かっていただけるでしょう。

いつもであれば、演奏がどうだ、セットリストがどうだと語るところですが、本作にそんなものは関係ありません。この若き姿、全身で喜ぶ姿、全霊で歌い、語りかける姿。この動く姿を可能な限りの高画質で目撃することこそが命なのです。巨大になると共に消えていった無邪気な素顔を永久に封じ込めた傑作映像。この若さ故の輝きにいつでも、いつまでも出会える１枚を、ぜひ。
